Understanding your CAD file
Each Custom Lid order will receive a CAD file for approval close to your estimated completion date (which can be found under the Production Times menu selection, per lid style, link below).
A CAD file is the engineered drawing, an exact rendering of the lid we will make for you. Once a CAD has been completed and sent for review, as ordered*, we consider the programming to have been completed.
When placing an order, please use your daily email for communication regarding your order.
In your CAD file you will notice that your internal tank dimensions will not show as the exact same numbers you have reported, as we will SUBTRACT a small offset from the length and depth to allow the total lid length and depth produced to fit inside your tank. This offset is .12"
You will also notice that each cutout ordered is also offset. These are an EXPANSION to the size you have ordered of....
A light mount will receive an offset that is an addition of space to allow the lid frame to fit around the light mount. This is an EXPANSION to the size you have ordered. This results in an addition of .125" to the length of the cutout.
A small cutout will receive an offset that is an addition of space to allow the lid frame to fit around the device for which it was ordered. This is an EXPANSION to the size you have ordered. This results in 0.06" added to the length (parallel to the side the lid is on), and the 0.03" to the depth.
A large cutout will receive an offset that is an addition of space to allow the lid frame to fit around the device for which it was ordered. This is an EXPANSION to the size you have ordered. This results in 0.12" added to the length and 0.06" added to the depth of the cutout.
*as ordered. This is pertaining to all dims reported in your order, by you. If we have made an error, it will be corrected by us, at no cost to you.
